An European Art Song Academy
YES – Young Europe Sings is an international project welcoming 18 young musicians - art song duos - who are interested in interpretation of Art Song and want to develop and strengthen relevant skills, gain experience and tools in order to enrich their artistic language, enter the labour market and build a career.
Organized by Zavod PerArtem, Slovenia, Ars Augusta e.V., Germany and Ateliers Misuk, France, YES enabled the mobility and offered an extensive and reach program for a young generation of musicians.
3 modules took place in each of the partnership countries between August 2023 and August 2024. Each module has focused on various topics – interpretation of specific repertoire, stage presence, role and social responsibility of art and artists in society, diction and acting classes, personal business canvas, team building and concerts in public.
Part of the YES programm are also duo concerts/projects that organized by participants - they have received financial funds and help from organizations.

What is YES?
18
Musicians
Young Duos (singers and pianists) between 18 and 30 years old selected to participate in the YES Academy. The full program, travel costs, food and accommodation being covered by YES Project.

Tutors
Experienced tutors mentoring students and working with them on skills such as interpretation, stage presence, diction, technique, and prepare them for their professional path.

Modules
The selected young artists meeting during three workshop-sessions of 5 days each in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia (August 2023), Görlitz, Germany (January 2024) and Poitiers, France (August 2024).

Days
During 3 modules participants taking part in workshops of manifold fields and topics. Public concerts are part of each module.
In order to use new tools and skills all participants receive funds and help when organising a concert by themselves.

Poitiers
Slovenj Gradec in Slovenia is a birthplace of Lied composer Hugo Wolf. 1st module will take place between August 21st and 27th, 2023.
Theme:
"Franz Schubert, Hugo Wolf and female composers."
2nd module will take place in the European City of Görlitz-Zgorzelec in Germany between January 11th and 17th, 2024.
Theme:
"Songs of Robert Schumann and “verboten und verbannt / forbidden and persecuted” music.
3rd module will take place in historically important city of Poitiers, France, from August 27th to September 2nd, 2024.
Theme:
"French music of 20th and 21st century and British art song."

Dissemination
Each module ends by a public concert of participants.
